Frequently Asked Questions
Are the appetite suppressants safe?
The prescription appetite suppressants that we use are shown to be safe and effective for controlling hunger. They are FDA approved and are recommended by the National Institute of Health for the treatment of weight loss.
What are the supplemental injections? Are they only B12 shots?
The supplemental injections that we use are a combination of vitamins (which includes B-12), minerals, and amino acids that help enhance your overall weight loss. They are a supplement to our program and help your body eliminate fat, control carbohydrate metabolism, and boost your body's immune system while providing energy.
Do you use Phen/fen?
Absolutely not. The combination of Phen/Fen (phentermine/fenfluramine) was popular in the 1990's but it was discovered that this combination caused cardiac complications and fenfluramine was taken off the market. We utilize the 'good Phen' (phentermine) which has been available for over 50 years and has proven to still be safe and effective. We also utilize a medication called phendimetrazine. We will only use medications that are FDA approved. In addition, these medications are recommended by the National Institute of Health.
Do the injections control my appetite?
No, the FDA approved appetite suppressant is what controls your appetite.
What is the average weight loss of a patient on the program?
The TYPICAL patient that follows our program will lose 5 to 10 pounds their 1st week and can experience 15 to 20 pounds weight loss during their 1st month.
I just had an EKG/blood work done. Can I just bring that with me?
Our protocol requires that an EKG and blood work be performed during the initial visit.
Is it really necessary to come on a weekly basis?
We require weekly visits to assess your progress, dispense your medication, and make any indicated changes that may be needed to help you achieve a healthy lifestyle.
What is the nutritional plan?
Elevated insulin levels are the fundamental cause of the obesity epidemic in this country. In fact, elevated insulin levels are a more powerful predictor of heart disease than cholesterol! Our nutritional plan is proven to lower blood insulin levels, increasing the body's ability to burn fat and stopping sweet and starch cravings. We use a low calorie diet that consists of lean protein, favorable carbohydrates, and good fats. Our program is not ‘high’ anything or ‘low’ anything. There is adequate protein to maintain lean muscle mass, more than enough carbs to satisfy hunger, and just enough ‘good’ fat to provide essential fatty acids.
Does your program incorporate any exercise?
Our weight loss program introduces a moderate amount of exercise that will significantly improve your overall health, well-being, and quality of life.
How long will the initial consultation last?
We suggest that you plan your schedule to allow at least an hour to an hour and a half for the initial visit.
